Adding Reform to China's Museum Milieu

China's expanding museum landscape and growing public appetite for culture have prompted policymakers and museum operators to take a hard look at reforming the nation's government-dependent system of museum management.

State-run museums are pushing for change in hopes of ending what one source said are persistent funding shortages. Other reformers say museums would benefit from better corporate governance and transparent financial reporting.
