Universalism Enacted Through Dialogue

 

In a previous essay of mine, "Who Cares About the Western Model?" I attempted to identify a good model for economic development. An astute reader quickly turned my question around, asking "What does it mean for something to be good anyway? Good for whom?" Though there is nothing novel about dissecting norms and social values, this kind of discussion is very important for a vibrant and dynamic society. In recent years, the discussion has far too often grown stagnant.
