Ma Cheng had no history of heart disease, but a sudden heart attack killed him during a meeting with high-speed rail inspectors assigned by the State Council to probe a disastrous crash near Wenzhou.
Sources said the 55-year-old Ma, president of state-run China Railway Signal & Communication (CRSC), and the executive credited with developing China Railway's bullet-train signal technology, slumped on a table and died shortly after addressing the inspection team.
