【Caixin Summit】Economist Urges Government to Improve Fiscal Discipline

(Beijing) – China must learn from the current debt crisis in Europe and improve its fiscal discipline, said Qian Yingyi, an economics professor at Tsinghua University, at a forum in Beijing on Friday.

Speaking at the 2011 Caixin Summit, Qian argued that the subprime mortgage crisis in the United States and sovereign debt problems in Europe have resulted from loose fiscal discipline.
