18 Children Dead in School Bus Crash

The fatal road crash of a nine-seater van crammed with 62 schoolchildren has triggered public outcry over transportation safety standards in China, with many calling for stricter regulations and enforcement.

The accident occurred on November 16, when a school bus with 64 passengers collided into a truck in a rural area of China's northwestern Gansu Province, leaving 18 kindergartners, their teacher and their driver dead. Another 44 children, ranging between the ages of three and six, suffered injuries.
