U.S. Trade Czar Urges Faster Change for China

The U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) recently convened in Chengdu amid an intensifying debate over whether the United States should pressure China to ease currency exchange controls by threatening punitive import tariffs.
On November 22, after two days of discussions, the commission reached agreements on intellectual property rights protection and trade cooperation. But exchange rate disputes between the world's largest and second-largest economies were left unresolved.
