Businesswoman Wang Xing used the name Julia Wang in the United States.
In her native China, though, Wang didn't need a name to secure lucrative railway equipment contracts that allegedly enriched her and her husband. Simply being introduced as "Zhang Shuguang's wife" was enough.
A Caixin investigation found evidence that Wang, whose husband served as a Ministry of Railways official before losing his job in February in a corruption probe, apparently worked as an intermediary between China's government-run railroad and foreign railcar sanitation suppliers.
