July 23 Train Crash Report Released

Fifty four officials should receive severe party or government punishments in connection with the fatal July 23 train crash that killed 40 people, an official investigative panel has recommended.
In their long-awaited report (in Chinese) released December 28, the State Council's investigative panel said the accident's three biggest culprits were former Ministry of Railways Li Zhijun, railway ministry deputy chief engineer Zhang Shuguang and China Railway Signal & Communication Group Corp. (CRSC) Chairman Ma Cheng.
