Ministry Predicts E-commerce Will Quadruple

(Beijing) – The volume of e-commerce is expected to quadruple to more than 18 trillion yuan by the end of 2015, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on March 27.

The objectives are part of the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, which runs from 2011 to 2015.

The ministry expected the lion's share of e-commerce to be in the business-to-business segment, which is seen as having transaction value of 15 trillion yuan.
