(Beijing) – Twenty nine Chinese fishermen were kidnapped by a North Korean boat when they were fishing in waters close to North Korean territory. The captors wanted a ransom for the release, according to a local ship owner in contact with the detained boats.
Hijackers are now asking for 900,000 yuan in ransom for the remaining three boats and 29 kidnapped fishermen. On May 8, four Chinese fishing boats registered in Dandong and Dalian were hijacked while trawling in Chinese waters.
