Closer Look: No Way to Polish Dirty Gov't

On May 15th, over 8,000 government employees in Shenzhen fanned out across the city after work wearing vests emblazoned with the characters for "civil servant volunteers." For 90 minutes, the city employees provided 50 services for passers-by, including shoe shines, haircuts and appliance repair.

The monthly program, instituted a year ago, is called Civil Servant Volunteer Day. It is now being lampooned, especially by Net users.
