Closer Look: Investor Anxiety
(Beijing) – Over the past six months, a large number of investors I talked to expressed unease over the strength of China's economy this year. Their worries noticeably deepened recently, despite several forecasts which predict annual GDP growth will exceed 7 percent. So why do these concerns remain so ardent?
Considering environmental and social factors, many economists agree that a slower growth rate could spur a more sustainable growth pattern. It seems the greatest amount of attention is focused on whether the economy can maintain 7 or 8 percent growth.
