Swiss Economy Minister Sees No Risk of Euro Collapse

(Beijing) – Following the announcement on July 9 of new aid measures for Spain, Swiss Economy Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann said that he does not see the risk of a euro collapse, and that European Union leaders would keep on finding short-term measures to address immediate problems.

"I'm optimistic that the EU, and in particular Brussels, can't allow an uncontrolled or even controlled break within the EU financial system," he said in a July 11 interview with Caixin at the Sino-Swiss Economic Forum in Beijing. "I definitely do not like the word collapse."
