Loose Wires for Renewable Energy Subsidies

(Beijing) – A worrying gap between incoming revenues and outgoing subsidies to alternative energy power plant operators may have doubled to 20 billion yuan last year, a source at the National Energy Administration (NEA) told Caixin.
The shortfall is just one sign that China's renewable-energy support program may be in trouble.
"It's urgent that we resolve these problems," said Zhang Yuan, vice president of wind farm builder and operator China Longyuan Power Group Corp. Ltd., whose company is eligible for the cash benefits. "Funding is inadequate, and we have to wait a long time for our subsidy payments."
