Experts Call for New Agency to Oversee Reform
(Beijing) – Leading Chinese economists are calling for the establishment of an independent agency to supervise the implementation of further economic reforms because the country has reached a crucial stage in its development.
Cao Yuanzheng, chief economist at the Bank of China, proposed at a forum on February 17 that a commission be set up to lead the design of reform plans and oversee their implementation. The commission should be separate from the nation's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission, Cao said.
