Antigone and the Orphan

Not long ago, the ancient Greek tragedy Antigone, was staged in Beijing. Written in 441 B.C. by Sophocles, the play has undergone several adaptations including a version by the German dramatist Bertolt Brecht and later on, the French playwright Jean Anouilh. The play held symbolic value to audiences for its anti-fascist undertones both during World War II and South Africa's Apartheid.
