Everyone is out to make a quick buck these days. But those going after easy money are usually the same people that are willing to cut corners, and it's this motivation that has resulted in the current food supply predicament. There's been the bread flour brightening scandal, the industrially-dyed yellow croaker, the Sudan Red duck meat and of course, melamine in milk. The marketplace has shown no shortage of ingenuity, as evidenced by the wide array of methods used both to increase profits and avoid detection. Everyone in the country has had to become their own personal food inspector, and yet the food fakers manage to stay one step ahead of the game – making for a hopeless situation.
