China: Portrait of a People

American photographer Tom Carter's 10,000 portraits of China document a two-year trip through the country's intensely diverse cultural and natural environment. Carter visited all 33 provinces and regions out of wanderlust following a stint as a teacher in Shandong Province. The 640-page book was compiled through visits by the photographer at small guesthouses.
