China and Russia's Cultural Borders

On his March visit to Russia – his first foreign trip as president - Xi Jinping told students at the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations, "The China-Russia relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world; moreover, it is the best great power relationship."

President Xi noted that both China and Russia are undergoing "important periods of national rejuvenation" and called for the two nations to unswervingly develop a future-oriented, win-win relationship of friendship and cooperation.  He then emphasized the significance of the China-Russia cultural bond:
