Don't Expect Praises
Set
one summer in northern China's Shanxi Province, Don't Expect Praises is the
widely-lauded second feature of director Yang Jin. A twelve-year-old boy sets
off with his classmate to visit his grandmother. Along the way, the boy visits
his classmate's uncle and elder sister. A rich yet realistic portrait of Yang's
own childhood experiences, the film uses a mix of animation and live action.
