Expert Backs Law Officials on Net Rumors, But '5,000 Views Is Too Low'

(Beijing) – A legal expert says he supports the approach taken by the nation's top court and prosecutor regarding punishment of rumor spreading, but that setting the bar at 5,000 views was too low.

On September 9, the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate said Net users could face three years in prison for spreading what the government calls "irresponsible rumors."
