Wealth and Power: China's Long March to the Twenty-First Century

AModern Chinese history has been written through a number of themes which had appeared so often now that they have become clichés. One of these is the idea of a "long march;" the other, an "unfinished revolution." Both of these hark back to the era of Chinese nation building from the 1930s into the 1940s; both try to capture the unique nature of what China has experienced as a country and what Chinese leaders have attempted to achieve over this period.
