Fifth Chinese Artwork Sells for at Least 100 Mln Yuan in 2013

(Beijing) – An art auction in the capital on December 2 of a painting by 20th century artist Huang Zhou set two records.

Huang's Gaiety in the Grassland sold for 129 million yuan, or US $21 million, at an auction run by Beijing Poly International Auction Co. Ltd. The figure was a record for a work by Huang.

The painting shows horses and their riders in the western region of Xinjiang. Huang died in 1997.
