Useless

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jia Zhangke, Useless is Jia's second full-length documentary film. Commissioned by fashion designer Ma Ke, the film moves through studio showrooms and factories in a fragmentary and disquieting manner. The collection of vignettes delivers an ultimately pessimistic image of aggressive development in contemporary China.
