Alibaba and Sina Corp. Launch Weibo App Payment Option

(Beijing) – E-commerce giant Alibaba Group and Internet media company Sina Corp. have launched payment services via the latter's app, a step taken to counter Tencent Inc. and its popular WeChat app.

Sina Weibo and Alipay, Alibaba's online payment service, said on January 7 they were linking their users' accounts to allow users of Sina Weibo's app to make quick Alipay payments by scanning a quick response (QR) code.
