A Beautiful 1984

Before a recent trip to Hong Kong,a friend asked me to bring back a book to him in Beijing.The khaki cover of Wilson Shieh's 5-year retrospective book of paintings has a title in a typeface similar to the popular woodcut books of the 1980s. With green letters embossed on khaki-colored paper, the decoration style is a reference to the year 1984 in Hong Kong, when the return of the territory to China was negotiated by British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping.
