Mayor of City in Sichuan 'Faces Party Inquiry'

(Beijing) – A mayor close to a disgraced former Communist Party official in the southwestern province of Sichuan is being investigated by the party, sources with knowledge of the matter say.

The target of the new inquiry is He Huazhang, 50, a former media businessman who became the mayor of Suining, a city east of Chengdu. He is widely seen as a favorite of Li Chuncheng, a former deputy party secretary of Sichuan.
