China Has New Chance at 'Meeting with the West,' Historian Spence Says

(Beijing) – British-born historian Jonathan Spence has just released the third edition of his most acclaimed work, The Search for Modern China, in the United States. The book, a survey of Chinese history from the dawn of the Qing Dynasty to the present, emerged from introductory courses Spence taught at Yale University, where he served as Sterling Professor of History for 15 years.
