Who's Afraid of Patriotism?

A student of mine became a teacher at a middle school years ago. She recently told me of a story which offered lessons on the experience of patriotic submission.

During a speech contest, the most spirited performance was given by a girl who gave a tribute to China's long history of civilization and all the luminaries that inhabited the land from its mountains to its rivers.
