Getting Rid of the Spoilsports in Soccer

Kicking off to the World Cup, the Japanese team lost to the Ivory Coast by 1-2 in its debut game on June 15. Despite the weaker showing, Japan's reputation as Asia's strongest football team remains indisputable. In contrast, China is far from producing a world class soccer team. What is the reason for this? The root cause lies in the lack of competition which has, in effect produced an administrative monopoly.
