Cities Vie for Headquarters of Infrastructure Bank

(Beijing) – Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen are jockeying to host the headquarters of a planned regional infrastructure bank backed heavily by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Discussions to create a US$ 50 billion Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) were initially raised by Chinese government officials in October 2013. The AIIB has been put forward as giving emerging economies greater representation in regional financial system.
