CDIC Merges Departments to Better Hunt Absconded Officials

(Beijing) – A recent change at the Communist Party's corruption watchdog has seen the merger of two departments, a move one researcher says signals that the party is stepping up efforts to hunt down officials who have fled overseas.

The International Cooperation Bureau was formed by combining the Foreign Affairs Bureau and the Corruption Prevention Office, said Xie Guanghui, deputy director of the clean government research center at the Central Discipline Inspection Commission (CDIC).
