Media Watch: After Long Wait, Media Floodgates Open on Zhou Yongkang Case
(Beijing) – The day after the Central Discipline Inspection Commission (CDIC) announced an investigation into former Politburo Standing Committee member Zhou Yongkang, Chinese academics and media began reflecting on the case in a slew of editorials and commentaries.
State television also reported on July 30 that the Communist Party's 18th Central Committee's fourth plenum, or full meeting, will take place in October and focus on rule of law issues. Commentators drew a connection between the two announcements, pointing out that rule of law and clean government are intimately related.
