Closer Look: Why E-Cars Are Not Selling in Beijing

(Beijing) – Companies and individuals in the capital got 9,382 license plates for electric cars in the first six months of this year, but only bought 331 vehicles, the Beijing Daily said on August 5.

This means Beijing is far behind its plan to put 20,000 electric cars on its streets this year, something that should worry Mayor Wang Anshun, who wants to improve the city's air quality. As in recent years, Beijing continues to choke though its air pollution problem in 2014.
