Haier's New Look: 'Micro-Enterprise' Platform

(Beijing) -- These days job-hopping is a matter of survival, not choice, at one of China's biggest manufacturers of major home appliances, Haier Group.

Executives and managers from around the company are accepting extra responsibilities and starting "micro-enterprises" that subcontract for Haier.

These job adjustments are keeping paychecks coming even while Haier cuts staff. And the start-ups are at the heart of a new business model aimed at improving Haier's bottom line by radically changing its operations.
