Closer Look: Auto Industry Revved Up over Reports Rules for Imports May Change

(Beijing) – Recent media reports about a pilot program to revise import policies for foreign-made automobiles has boosted speculation that imported vehicles may get cheaper while dealers will suffer.
In late August, media outlets reported that the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Automobile Exchange Market, the largest market for imported cars in eastern China, drafted a plan for parallel imports and submitted it to the Ministry of Commerce for a review.
