Phony Futurism

Many people have likened China technological progress to the genre of science fiction but not fantasy. That reminds me of one example: the sacked police chief in Tianjin holds at least 35 patents.

Joining the local police force at 16-years-old, Wu Changchun became chief of Tianjin's public security bureau in 2003. During his tenure, he obtained a doctorate degree from the Tongji University School of Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Design. He had some 35 transportation patents, including four owned by himself and 31 others jointly held with officials at his bureau, making him the first champion inventor and scientist to be taken down so far in the ongoing anti-corruption campaign.
