Shenzhen's Qianhai Zone Joins Overseas E-Commerce Pilot

(Beijing) – The Qianhai special economic zone in the southern city of Shenzhen has allowed qualified e-commerce companies to buy wholesale goods overseas, store them in bonded warehouses and delay making tariff payments until they are sold to retail customers.

The September 9 move makes Shenzhen the seventh city to join the trial program, which allows domestic customers to shop on foreign websites and have their order shipped home under the customs' supervision. The others are Shanghai, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, Ningbo, Chongqing and Guangzhou.
