A Chinese Dream in America

In New York's Times Square, known as the crossroads of the world, or the heart of America, there is a towering video monitor called the "China Screen." Upon seeing this in a foreign land, I stood almost in tears gazing up at this conception of China. When it was first unveiled, media coverage in China could be summarized as this:

"On August 1, 2011, New Yorkers will be able to see the glowing, blue logo of the Xinhua News Agency displayed on the 19 meter-high and 12 meter-wide screen atop No. 2 Times Square. Who could have thought that a red Communist China could have its state news agency transmitting live updates in the very heart of imperialist America, the center of capitalist civilizations the world over – Times Square."
