Film: The Hammer and Sickle are Sleeping

Nominated for best short film at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, The Hammer and Sickle are Sleeping tells the tale of a motley crew of three men in northeastern China. Unrelentingly dark and violent, the film follows the three in their musings on survival in a tough landscape. Director Geng Jun provides identifiable characters in an emotionally punishing film about bored young men.
