Monkey Hunting

In light of the momentous announcement to renew U.S.-Cuban ties, a development that will surely reverberate all the way to Asia, we are re-running our June 2003 review of Monkey Hunting by Cristina Garcia, which tells the story, or at least a story, of the Chinese community in Cuba.

I remember from my college days the numerous restaurants in and around New York's 8th Avenue serving "Comida Cubana-China," which seemed like an unlikely combination (and from the little I sampled, it was).
