In December 2013, Shanghai once again ranked first in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), a worldwide study that compares over 500,000 15-year-old students in mathematics, science and reading. In reaction to this success, Britain, which ranked 26th, sent 70 elementary school math teachers to the city in the summer of 2014, to learn from their Shanghainese counterparts.
