Families of 36 People Killed in Shanghai Stampede to Get 800,000 Yuan

(Beijing) – The families of 36 people who were killed in the New Year's Eve stampede in Shanghai will each receive 800,000 yuan in compensation, a district government says.

The government of the eastern city's Huangpu District made the announcement in a notice published on January 21. Compensation for 49 people who were injured has not been finalized, but will be decided according to the severity of their injuries.
