No Promotions for Fat Soldiers, Military Newspaper Warns

(Beijing) – Soldiers who want promotions will need to keep fit, a military newspaper has reported recently, and the People's Liberation Army will adopt a widely used index for measuring body fatness.

The PLA Daily said in a report on February 12 on new guidelines for training that military servicemen will not get promotions if they do not meet certain standards for weight.
