The Soft Edge of Cut Paper

Red velvet, holographic accents and giant cartoon sheep; it's hard to escape the many incarnations of China's papercut tradition as the Spring Festival approaches, pasted over shopping centre windows in loud celebration.

In Hangzhou's Long Gang You Lan Papercut Workshop, everyone speaks at a rush – orders are coming in and they are working to ship them out as quickly as possible for Spring Festival. Though you would expect Mr. Hong, their papercut designer, to have finished his job by now, he speaks at the same fast pace as his colleagues.
