Tesla Confirms Layoff Plan, but Denies It Is Cutting Workforce by One-Third

(Beijing) – U.S. electric carmaker Tesla Motors Inc. says it will lay off some employees in China, but the cuts will be lower than the nearly one-third reported by some media outlets.

Tesla did not provide more details of its layoff plan when it spoke to Caixin on March 6.

The China Times and The Economic Observer newspapers have been among the news outlets reporting Tesla will slash its workforce by 30 percent. The reports cite former employees.
