Pollution Documentary Helps Raise Public Awareness, Experts Say

(Beijing) – A documentary on China's pollution problems produced by a former CCTV reporter has generated heated debate since its release in late February.

Under the Dome, the 103-minute documentary by Chai Jing, traces the story of China's air pollution from the coal mines of Shaanxi Province to the urban modernity of Beijing. It explains to its viewers what smog is, where it comes from and what the public can do about it. It was viewed more than 200 million times before being removed from most video websites.
