Security Ministry Cancels 1.44 Mln Fake Hukou Documents

(Beijing) --- The Ministry of Public Security has canceled 1.44 million faked hukou, or household registration documents, in a crackdown on abuses of the controversial system that started last year.

Ministry vice director Huang Ming said on March 25 that facial recognition technology available in 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions helped officers to identify 587,000 faked hukou, accounting for 41 percent of the total found.
