Capital's Schools to Close When Air Pollution Gets Too Bad

(Beijing) – Education officials in the capital have told kindergartens and primary and middle schools to close when the air pollution is expected to be bad for several days in a row, state media reported on April 1.
Beijing's education commission told schools to cancel classes when the city government issues a red warning for air pollution.
The capital's color-coded warning system for poor air was recently changed so that a red alert is issued when the air is predicted to be "heavily" polluted or worse for more than three days in a row.
