China Needs Gov't Office for Handing Out National Awards, Lawmaker Says

(Beijing) – The government should establish a special office and set criteria for choosing people to receive the country's highest honors, a top lawmaker said on August 26.

Dong Zhongyuan said the office should establish the types of awards, standards for winners and the procedures for handing out honors. Information about candidates should be published so the public could provide feedback before honors are given, he said.
